| Update like Whoa. |
[Jul. 29th, 2005|10:21 pm] |
We have been wanting to change this journal to a community for quite some time now. Unfortunatly that meant deleating all of our old entries, which was breaking my heart, but was also taking forever!
So we have made a new Community pwcosplay! So please come and join. ^_^
This journal will become an archive and will no longer be updated. Thanks for the memories paperwing. |

| | Family Guy | ] | Ok, so I'm going to try my best to update the group livejournal when I post progress pictures and such. But, for today we have some new photos of some older costumes. ^^ I bought myself a new camera so I was anxious to try it out, today Makoto and I headed over to Red Rocks Park to snap a few. It was a bit chilly and we did have to take a brief break to escape a Thunderstorm but I really like how they turned out. ^_^ Enjoy!

[Mar. 23rd, 2005|06:01 pm] |
Hell has frozen over, paper-wings.org has been updated! Massively overhauled, with enough new costumes to scare the living daylights out of me. And a new layout to boot. :)
Please go check it out!
We solemnly swear to be more fastidious updaters from now on, because uploading 90+ costumes at one time is no fun. Big thanks go to Ringo-chan for her hard work redesigning the gallery!
New members pages will be coming eventually too. And if you'd like us to link your site, please let us know.

| Hi guys!! Been awhile, hasn't it? |
[Feb. 16th, 2005|12:02 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | excited | ] | I'm sorry. We forget our group journal much more than we should :( All three of us have been terribly busy lately, however, and sometimes we don't even post costume updates in our personal journals.
There are a few new things I should mention, however.
Current convention schedule:
Kamikaze con Houston, Tx. Late March-ish- I will be at this one with Celine! yay!
A-kon, maybe. Dallas, Tx Sometime in June? I'm really debating it. Ringo and Makoto won't be able to make it to that one, and I'm not sure if I really want to go this year. I have a hotel room reserved, but it's easily canceled if I decide it's not going to be worth the parking hassle.
Paper Wings has exciting news! We will be at Anime Expo! (I think!) I am 99% certain I won't be attending, but Ringo and Makoto will be there, along with N-kun, our almost-eager-to-be-abused male cosplay prop. I'll let them fill you in with more details on that later.
Animefest for certain.. Yay for Maaya Sakamoto!! Dallas, Tx Labor day weekend. I love 4 day cons. This one will be just me again.
Nan Desu Con Denver, Colorado.. sometime after animefest. Sorry, I'm really bad with dates and too lazy ATM to look them up. This one will be Ringo, Makoto, and possibly N-kun the amazing.
And that, kiddos, takes us all the way through September, and ends another con season.
The other major news with is is that our poor BBS is gone. Unfortunately, due to security holes in the Ikonboard system, we were unable to safely keep the BBS up and running. It was great when we had it, but to be completely honest, we didn't update that as much as we should, either.. lol. So, hopefully all the BBSers will find the journal and carry on discussions here.
If you're interested in our individual costuming projects, feel free to check out our personal journals. Those are usually updated more often with pictures and whatnot. |

| | happy | ] | I just wanted to leave a little note to let everyone know that our BBS is back up. You can get there from the main website. :) Ringo and Makoto worked very hard to get everything up and working, so if you get a chance, please come register. Things are quiet now, but we hope to make it an active community again. |

| [ | mood |
| | tired | ] | Integral Here! Many thanks to those who participated in Iron Cosplay and our Cosplay Round Table events. We saw some very creative costumes at Iron Cosplay. This was also the debut of a new twist on an old game. Judge's Challenge! That's right. For those of you that missed it, our very own Judges took on 3 unsuspecting victims for a round themselves. This threw Ringo, Makoto, and myself into the Judge's seat for a change. It was so tough to decide on a winner, we declared it a tie and decided never to judge again. lol
Personally, I think that the Cosplay Round table discussion went over very well. I would like to say thank you to Jase, Lysaralia, and Khet Tcheba for joining the three of us to discuss costume construction. For those of you who missed it, we went over the creation of a Vash the Stampede costume, as well as our favorite costuming supply shops. (Makoto, how did Starbucks get in there!?!? :D ) Due to the success of this panel, PWC will be running it again at future cons.
The next two conventions on our schedule are: Animefest Nan Desu Kan
Because of the way we're split up, I will be the PWC "rep" at Animefest, and you can expect to see Makoto and Ringo running things in Denver for NDK :) |

| A-kon panel info! |
[May. 27th, 2004|04:22 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | busy | ] | Hey guys.. A-kon is coming up on us quickly this year! Paper Wings Cosplay is once again hosting the ever-popular Iron Cosplay, in addition to some new stuff! Make sure you come to Iron Cosplay, because we're tossing a few new twists into this game that should be fun for everyone.
We're also hosting a Cosplay Round Table discussion that should be a lot of fun! We're gathering together a small group of costumers to discuss different ways of making the same things. This should benefit newbies and veterans alike, as it gives everyone a chance to hear how other people make their costumes. It may even give you some new ideas on how to do things. :) We are still looking for a few cosplayers for this discussion, so if you are interested, reply here ASAP! Spots for discussion are filling up fast. If you want to participate, and we don't know you that well, it would be great if you can post a website/cosplay.com gallery/cosplaylab member name, so we can get an idea of your work. If you don't make it into the discussion circle, though, don't worry! There should still be plenty of room to watch, and we'll take questions at the end.
If you're into J-rock, we've got a few things popping up there, too. Yours truly (Integral) will be working with the J-music room this year to bring you a VK makeup panel. I'll probably be yanking one or two victims from the audience to mess with, and I'll be going over basic whiteface techniques. If I have time, I'll cover stuff like eyeliners, etc.
Paper Wings will also be attending the EGL fashion show if you just want to chat. (Hey.. it's easier to track us down if you know where we're going to be!)
All three of us are working very hard to get our costumes done in time for the convention. We hope to see you guys there! |

XD Just FYI, the BBS should be up again sometime soon. I'll post a link when it is back. In other news Makoto and I went to the local Sci-fi convention last weekend. We even had some new costumes, Femme Fatale and Princess Morbucks from Powerpuff Girls. The images are in my cosplay.com gallery along with pictures of other costumers. I love how diverse and creative the costumes were. The wheels are already churning for next year. ^_^

I'll try to be better about updating stuff. XD I usually just write about it in my personal journal. On another note the BBS should be back sometime, when we get ikonboard to the new server. =D Jya~ |

| [ | mood |
| | excited | ] | Hey guys! We got some really kick-butt time slots for Ushicon this year, so no one attending has an excuse to miss our panels this time around ;)
Friday afternoon at 5pm, we will be hosing a general cosplay panel.
Any input on what you would like to hear about? We are always looking for new and exciting topics for our cosplay panels, and we'd be more than happy to share any of our knowledge or experience with those interested. Any panel suggestions are welcome! While I had asked for opinions on a Cosplay/Eating Disorder panel, this topic will NOT be at Ushicon. While I feel it is a great panel subject, I do not feel that it would go over well at Ushicon. Ushi is a smaller convention, and I would rather try to get somthing like this off the ground at a larger convention, like A-kon.
Saturday- 1pm!!! Iron Cosplay! This is a great time slot for our favorite event. We're looking forward to a big crowd this year. If you like cosplay, and are attending Ushicon, please stop by! I found some great theme ingredients this time around, so it should be a blast!
All of us are working very hard on a new group costume set to debut at Ushi. :) Since our BBS died due to hosting changes, we haven't been able to post any sneak peeks, but it'll be a great old school group. :D |

New costumes include Eboshi (Mononoke Hime), Kai and Shin-Lu (E'S), Koboshi (Pita Ten), Millenia (Grandia II), Sheena Ringo, Noble (Pleur), and Mirielle and Kirika (Noir). Good times!
There are still a lot more costumes to add. Otanoshimi ni! |

| Cosplay panel subjects |
[Oct. 7th, 2003|05:30 am] |
I'm sure you all know that we run Iron Cosplay regularly at conventions. Some of you may also know that we semi-regularly run general costuming panels. I ran one at Animefest.. and at the Ushi before that, Ringo and I hosted one together. I know at this past NDK, Ringo and Mako also hosted one. Our subjects change a lot depending on what we feel like talking about. Our first one (Ringo&I.. Ushi2) was about fabric choice, fiberglass, petticoats... it was basically a Q&A section to help out cosplayers. At Animefest, I did a general rundown on how to start a costume and break it into managable peices... and I used my Millenia costume as a step-by-step example of this. I'm thinking about topics for Ushi3... and so far, the most likely candidate was "Why you need an Emergency Cosplay Kit, and What you should put in it." I'm thinking about doing somthing else, though.. And I wanted to know what you guys thought. I really think I want to do a panel on EDs and cosplay. I think that Eating Disorders have a bigger impact on cosplayers than many may think. I think it's somthing that is serious enough to spend 30 minutes addressing. IT's common knowledge that Western society's current view of how a women ought to look is skewed... and I think that this also seriously impacts the cosplay community. Especially when you take into consideration how much SMALLER the ideal anime girl is.. and how many cosplayers have a poor sense of self esteem. It's a very serious topic, and it's somthing that I would like to address seriously in a panel. It's somthing that's also pretty personal for me. I know that there are some of you out there who will not be going to Ushicon... or any other Texas convention anytime soon. But your opinion is appreciated. Do you think this is somthing that people will be interested in? Do you think it will be easy to get attendence at a panel like this? It's a pretty somber topic for the party-weekend atmosphere that you get at conventions, so I'm not sure. I think I'm going to shamelessly cross-post this in a few other journals, as well.

| | accomplished | ] | Lots done today! Integral, here, reporting on the status of A-kon and Animefest pictures! Yes, yes.. I know.. they're VERY late. Blame it on me. I'm lazy. In any case.. I'm finishing up all of the re-sizing, etc as we speak. All the A-kon stuff is just about finished, and then, it's on to the Animefest stuff. I think I can get most of it done tonight, and then I'll pass it along to the eager and waiting hands of Mako& Ringo.. who have been bugging me about it for months ~..^ Since I've finally gotten off my butt and finished what I should have done months ago, you guys can look forward to an update in the near future! We'll be sure to let you know here when it happens, so look forward to it! :D For now, I'll leave you with a teaser! Back by popular demand... The Audience favorite of Iron Cosplay Animefest '03.... I give you... BOB THE PIRATE! |

| More exciting news! |
[Aug. 14th, 2003|10:06 am] |
For those of you in the Dallas area this labor-day weekend, stop by AnimeFest! and participate in Iron Cosplay! We've just received exciting news from Animefest, and I (Integral) will be hosting Iron Cosplay on Sunday at 1pm. There will also be a general costuming panel on Saturday at 4:30pm. If you guys have anything you specifically want to hear about at the costuming panel, let me know, and I'll prepare some topics on request. Otherwise, it'll probably be very similar to the costuming panel we ran at Ushicon 2002. (Q&A with some tips on heavy-duty costuming techniques)
In case anyone is costuming from the following series, let me know, and we can take pictures together!
Trigun (there's ALWAYS trigun costumers.. heh) : I've got a Dominique the Cyclops costume almost done.. and we should also have a Zazi the Beast with us international Ragnarok Online: Female thief& male mage Di Gi Charat: I'm reprising my Rabi en Rose costume! Grandia II: I'm bringing Millenia with me ^..^
I'll also be hauling some other old costumes, but I haven't decided yet. |

| A Notice about the Paperwings BBS |
[Jul. 27th, 2003|07:14 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | tired | ] | Well guys, it looks like our long-lived BBS may be dead XD We're working on figuring out exactly why it's not working. If it's a hosting issue, there is a chance that we won't be able to bring it back. My webhosting plan for Paper-Wings.org does now allow for the CGI we were using for the BBS, so Ringo was hosting it on her own site, Genki-Gal.com. They may have changed somthing in the hosting plan that does not allow CGI. If that's the case, get used to using our Livejournal XD |
